Ingredients
- 1 package (1/4 ounce) active dry yeast
- 2-1/4 cups warm water (100° to 110°)
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 2 tablespoons canola oil
- 6-1/4 to 6-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- Milk, to brush
Steps
1) Mix yeast and water in large bowl. Gently mix 5 min.
2) Mix in sugar, salt, oil
3) Add 3 cups of flour, 1 cup at a time, mixing between cups
4) Switch to bread hook
5) Add enough remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, to form a soft dough. Beat for 10 min.
6) Turn onto well floured surface. Work just a little bit until it isn't sticky. Turn into oiled bowl, turning to coat.
7) Cover and let rise until double in size, about 90 min
8) Punch down, divide in two. On a floured surface, press each half into a long ribbon, and roll to fit a 9x5 oiled bread pan.
9) Cover and let rise until double, about 30 min.
10) Bake at 375 for 30-35 min, brushing with milk half way through cooking.
