Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 Tbs salt
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup milk
  • 4 cups flour
  • oil for frying
  • cinnamon sugar

Steps

1) Mix sugar, baking powder, salt and nutmeg. Add eggs, milk, and melted butter. Beat well 2) Blend in 3 cups flour. Add 1 cup flour and beat well, until dough is soft and sticky but firm enough to handle. Add up to 1/2 cup more flour if necessary 3) Cover with plastic wrap and chill for at least 1 hour 4) Remove dough from fridge. Begin heating oil to 360 F on stove 5) Roll out 1/2 the dough to 1/2" thickness. Cut into doughnut shapes. Fry, turning over a few times, for 2-3 min total 6) Drain on paper towels. Smother in toppings.
