Ingredients
- 1 envelope yeast
- Pinch of sugar
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 3/4 cup warm milk
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1 egg
- 1 Egg yolk
- 1 Tbs lemon peel
- 2 tsp Salt
- 4 cup white flour
- Lemon butter:
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 11/2 tsp lemon peel
Steps
1) Sprinkle yeast over warm water
2) Stir, and let stand until foamy (10 min)
3) Combine milk, butter, egg, extra yolk, lemon, salt
4) Add yeast and 11/2 cup flour
5) Mix until smooth
6) Add in flour to form stiff dough, and knead 5 min
7) Let rise until double (11/4 hours)
8) Grease 12" springform pan or earthenware baking dish
9) Punch dough down and knead
10) Divide into 20 pieces
11) Roll each piece into a ball
12) Put balls in pan in single layer
13) Let rise 20 minutes
14) Brush with lemon butter
15) Bake 35 minutes ad 375F (until golden)
