Ingredients
- 4 3/4-51/2 cups Flour
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 11/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 2 pkg yeast
- 3/4 cup Milk
- 1/2 cup Butter
- 3 Eggs
- 8 oz Chopped Dates
- 1 egg white
- 11/2 cup confectioners' sugar
- 1-2 Tbs Milk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Steps
1) Mix 11/2 cup flour, sugar, cinnamon, salt, nutmeg, and yeast
2) Heat milk, water, and butter until hot to touch (125-130F)
3) Add to dry ingredients, beating 2 min at med speed
4) Add eggs & 1/2 cup flour, beat well
5) Add flour and knead until smooth and elastic
6) Let rise 30 minutes
7) Knead in dates
8) Divide into 18 smooth, rounded balls
9) Place on greased baking sheet, 2 inches apart
10) Let rise until double in size (30 min)
11) Lightly beat egg white with 1 TBS WATER
12) Brush over rolls
13) Bake 20 minutes at 375F
14) Cool on wire rack
15) Mix confectioners' sugar, milk, and vanilla
16) Drizzle or pipe on rolls to make cross
